LANDI KOTAL/KOHAT: The district administrations of Khyber tribal district and Kohat have devised comprehensive plans to provide foolproof security to Eidgahs and mosques where Eid prayers would be offered.

In Khyber district, deployment of Khasadar and Levies personnel has also been finalised at all important business centres.

Landi Kotal DSP Sawal Zar Khan told mediapersons here that one assistant sub-inspector of police along with eight policemen would be deployed at the major mosques on Eid day.

He said that security of markets in the three sub-divisions of Bara, Landi Kotal and Jamrud had been beefed up to thwart any untoward incident. The administration has also announced a ban on pillion riding a week before Eid.

A ban on firing in the air on the occasion of moon sighting and other festive occasions during Eid had already been imposed.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Mehmud Aslam Wazir through a notification directed the assistant commissioners of Landi Kotal, Jamrud and Bara to fix prices of all bakery items and confectionaries prior to Eidul Fitr.

The notification also directed the bakery owners to display prices of all their items.

In Kohat, the district police constituted 100 teams under the supervision of deputy superintendents of police and SHOs for the security of Eidgahs and mosques in the city.

Moreover, the district police officer had deployed over 1,500 policemen for duty on Chand Raat and Eidul Fitr in the city by declaring 40 places of the district as most sensitive under the strategy devised for the Eid days. The 24 hours patrolling by the quick response and rapid response forces had also been started.

Over 100 wardens had been asked to perform duty day and night while entry of heavy vehicles into bazaars had been banned for easy movement of pedestrians coming for shopping.

A press release issued here on Sunday said that the ban on entry of Afghan refugees to the city and pillion riding would remain intact during the Eid.
