PESHAWAR: One soldier was martyred in a gun-and-bomb attack on a security vehicle in North Waziristan tribal district on Saturday, the Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement.
It said the attack occurred in Boya near the Afghan border. The martyred soldier was identified as Amil Shah, 26. The statement said that a military vehicle was on a routine patrol when it came under attack.
Terrorist activities in North Waziristan have increased. Over the last one month, five soldiers were martyred and 31 others injured in various incidents. The ISPR said that arrest of facilitators linked to these terrorist activities led to the Kharqamar post incident. On May 26, at least 13 people were killed and 25 others, including seven soldiers, suffered injuries in an exchange of fire near the Kharqamar check post at Boya.
