I WAS walking towards Wadhu Wah road when I was stuck in a severe traffic jam where vehicles were moving at a snail’s pace. When I reached the end of this stretch of the thoroughfare the reason became apparent.

Dozens of vehicles were parked in a haphazard manner owing to the roadside eateries and showrooms on this stretch of the road. Many of the restaurants and showrooms have encroached on the footpath, leaving no space for pedestrians. The encroachments are also hampering the smooth traffic flow.

A rickshaw driver stranded in the jam was berating the commercial establishments responsible for hindering traffic. The civic authorities are requested to remove the encroachments and ensure smooth traffic flow.
