SIALKOT: Local social, political and business circles of Pasrur tehsil have rejected the proposed affiliation of the tehsil’s 40 villages with Daska tehsil by the Sialkot district administration.

They said the proposed move would add to the difficulties of the people of the villages.

They said these 40 villages were only 15 to 20km from Pasrur tehsil headquarters and 40 to 60km from Daska and demanded the district administration not to cut these villages from Pasrur in the larger public interest.

According to the officials concerned, the Sialkot district administration has sent a proposal to the Punjab Revenue Department, proposing to attach 40 villages, including Uddo Fataah, Baasu Punnu, Ratta Jathol, Sokan Wind, Rajaadeywali, Hunjrah, Khan Jujja, Qila Kalarwala, Maalokey, Padhiyaar, Manga Old and Manga New, with Daska tehsil on administrative grounds.

“The district administration has sent this proposal to the revenue department for approval,” the official sources confirmed.

They claimed that affiliation of these Pasrur villages with Daska tehsil had become necessary on administrative grounds.

The local MPA Rana Muhammad Afzal of the PML-N opposed the proposal, saying that affiliation of Pasrur’s 40 villages with Daska would be injustice to the people of Pasrur.

He announced moving the Lahore High Court (LHC) against this proposal, alleging that the district administration had made this proposal to please local PTI leaders in both Daska and Pasrur tehsils.

He said the move was aimed at achieving political gains.
