QUETTA: A meeting presided over by Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani here on Monday discussed next financial year’s development and non-development projects and decided that the government would give priority to projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

It was decided that special measures would be taken so that problems of people could be solved at their doorstep.

Balochistan Chief Secretary Dr Akhtar Nazeer, Additional Chief Secretary P&D Abdul Rehman Buzdar, Finance Minister Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Secretary Finance Noorul Haq Baloch and other officials concerned attended the meeting.

The officials briefed the meeting on the overall structure and layout of the proposed PSDP. The meeting was also informed that all departments have suggested measures for the achievement of different development targets in different sectors which would not only fulfil the requirements of the people but also enhance revenue of the province.

The meeting was informed that in the next financial year’s budget maximum funds would be allocated for development projects and that skill development would be given priority.

CM Alyani said the next year’s provincial budget would be different from the previous budges. He said the provincial government would use all of its resources for the betterment of people.

He criticised the previous government, claiming that it did not pay attention to problems of people.

A large number of people in the province were deprived of basic facilities, he added.

He lauded preparation of the PSDP with guidelines given by the political leadership.

“By following guidelines of the Planning and Department Commission, Balochistan High Court verdict and political leadership we could balance our available resources and expenditures,” he added.

He said maximum funds would be provided for development schemes.

Mr Alyani said Balochistan needed think tanks which could provide guidelines and suggestions to provincial government in making projects according to needs of the province.
