LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Arif Nawaz Khan has upgraded the police training school, Multan, to the level of college in order to improve the level of training of the force.

He also accorded approval of the summary sent by the additional IG training to hand over management control of the police school of information and analysis from Special Branch to Punjab’s training branch.

A notification was also issued to make south Punjab independent and capable of imparting modern training and improving skills/capabilities of the force in the region instead of sending them to Lahore or Rawalpindi for the purpose.

Addressing a meeting at the Central Police Office, the IGP said senior police officers should arrange special courses for the trainee officials regarding public dealing in police stations.

He directed them to focus on the training of the investigation officers before submission of challans in courts so that provision of justice could be ensured. He said that to counter contemporary policing challenges, investigation courses based upon modern professional skills are imperative.

He directed that selection of master trainers in two phases for conducting training in 33 modern courses should be completed soon whereas a report of participation of officers/officials in the courses meant for increasing their capabilities at the regional and provincial levels should be sent to the CPO.
