ISLAMABAD: A shallow westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and is likely to intensify tomorrow (Wednesday), dropping daytime temperatures by 4°C to 6°C in various areas this week, the Met Office said on Monday.

Dark clouds and a light drizzle also brought temperatures in the capital down.

Dust-thunderstorms or rainfall are expected in scattered parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Balochistan, upper Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir under the influence of this weather system from Wednesday to Saturday.

Isolated heavy rainfall is also expected in the Makran, Kalat, Zhob and D.G. Khan divisions on Wednesday and Thursday.

Cloudy weather with few chances of dust-thunderstorms and light rain is also expected along the Sindh-Makran coast, including in Karachi, on Thursday and Friday, the Met Office added.

The forecast also said hot and dry weather is expected in most of the country, with very hot weather expected in south Punjab and Sindh.

Dust-thunderstorms and rain are expected in isolated places in the Kohat, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Lahore, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi divisions, as well as Islamabad, GB and Kashmir.
