UPPER DIR: A landslide blocked the main Dir-Kohistan Road to traffic for more than five hours near Sheringal on Sunday.

The blockade of the road troubled the commuters and led to formation of long queues of vehicles on both sides of the busy road. Local people said a big portion of a mountain got detached and blocked the road.

Passengers, including children, women and patients, waited for reopening of the road in chilly weather for hours.

It merits a mention here that a landslide had occurred on the same spot a month ago. The Dir-Kohistan Road is considered a dangerous route because landslides have been happening at various places.

Imran Khan, an engineer of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority, and assistant commissioner, Sheringal, Ali Raza Shah, reached the spot and got the road cleared.
