LAHORE: The city administration on Monday removed 18 sanitary patrol officials, including women, from service for being negligent and absent from duty during various rounds of the anti-polio campaign in the provincial capital.

In a meeting presided over by Lahore Deputy Commissioner Saleha Saeed, the administration also imposed heavy fines on and issued warning notices to 11 others and surrendered Deputy District Officer (Health) Dr Mudassir to the disposal of the provincial government.

Similarly, the administration expressed displeasure over the performance of District Officer (Health) Dr Faisal and issued him a warning letter. Likewise, explanation was sought from Allama Iqbal and Data Ganj Bakhsh DDOs (health).

“We have decided not to spare anyone for showing poor performance in the anti-polio drives. So officials must be prepared to face action if they fail to deliver,” Ms Saeed said. “You are also required to show excellent performance in the polio round starting from April 22,” she added.
