KARACHI: On Thursday, day three of Fashion Pakistan Week Spring/Summer ’19 was dedicated to summer bridals and featured Nomi Ansari, Huma Adnan, Amir Adnan, Saira Shakira, Zainab Chottani, The Pink Tree Company, and Tena Durrani.

‘Kaleidoscope’ by Noman Ansari featured fine needlework, bead and mirror work from different parts of Sindh offset by loud colours and dhaba imagery. With Nomi’s signature look, all the elements came together in a fantastical amalgamation of playful festive wear. Model Cybil Chowdhry in a thread- and mirror-work embellished multicolour bridal stole the show while Maya Ali, of Teefa in Trouble fame, in a canary yellow number walked for Nomi Ansari in the segment.

Parishae Adnan for Huma Adnan showed ‘The Monsoon Bride’ that was a celebration of the season’s weddings and which was a very wear-friendly collection. A rust sari with sheer frill stood out notably in the collection, as did an indigo blue lehenga with gold detailing. Sarah Khan walked for the designer. Again, Parishae Adnan for Amir Adnan’s ‘All Day I Dream’ verged on the surreal in terms of cuts and styling. Essentially white with splashes of black and earth tones, the collection displayed maturity of thought and a definite cohesion and evolution in menswear design. Azfar Rehman appeared in a showstopper outfit towards the end of the segment.

Saira Shakira’s ‘Euphoria’ focused on hues, textures and cuts and employed the use of rich fabrics such as hand-woven nets, jamawar, pure silks, velvets, custom digital-print silks and organzas on monochromes as well as elegant colours.

With ‘La Fée’ Zainab Chottani wove her magic with sheer luxe fabric and detailing for the modern bride in pastels with silver foil appliqué and hues of red. Haniya Amir walked for the designer with a performance by Asim Azhar.

The Pink Tree Company chose to show ‘Mayun Mehndi’, a collection of yellows, saffrons, pinks, oranges and greens with gold gota appliqué on crushed cotton and traditional cuts that catered to any and all would-be brides. Sonya Hussain walked in the segment.

The finale act of Day Three, Tena Durrani’s ‘Nur’ was meant for the progressive woman and who is not afraid to experiment with different looks on her big day. The designer presented variants in textures and hues while keeping the silhouette strictly desi.

The show direction was by Nubain Ali with hair and make-up by Samiya Ansari of Sabs Salon.
