HYDERABAD: Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan-Noorani (JUP-N) on Sunday vowed to resist any move to convert Pakistan to a secular state, make changes in books of history and anti-blasphemy law and remove original chapters of shrines from books.

Speaking at the party’s provincial council meeting, JUP-N president Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair announced setting up of a committee headed by Pir Syed Abdul Ghani Shah and said that it would visit shrines in Sindh and devise a strategy.

The shrines and anti-blasphemy laws would be protected at all costs, he added.

He warned the auqaf department against making any changes in books of history and asked the federal government to ensure protection of Islamic identities.
