SAHIWAL, July 3: Two people were electrocuted while six family members injured when the roof of a house collapsed in rain-related incidents here on Sunday morning. Minor girl Rabia lost her life when she touched the live wire in her house in Miran Shah.

Waris of the same village touched a pedestal fan which was electrified. He received severe shock and died on the spot.

The roof of Muhammad Sadiq’s house caved-in in Retri village, injuring six of his family members.

They were rushed to hospital where the condition of Naveed and Abdul Sattar was said to be serious.

Strong winds followed by heavy rain lashed the city at 6am and continued for some two hours.

The power supply remained suspended for some six hours to Shadman Town, Kot Khadim Ali Shah, Fateh Sher Colony and other localities.

A breach also occurred in Six-R irrigation minor near the DHQ Hospital which flooded residences of doctors and other localities.

Irrigation authorities claimed that the breach happened as the farmers could not utilize their quota owing to the availability of rainwater in their farms.

TWO DIE: Gastro-enteritis claimed two more lives here on Sunday.

Jannat Bibi (70) of Chak 79/5-L and Zeb (15) of Nama Sial village were admitted to the DHQ Hospital on Saturday evening. Both of them died on Sunday.

Around 56 patients, including 30 children, are still getting treatment at the DHQ Hospital.
