PESHAWAR: Twenty buses of the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit project reached Peshawar on Tuesday after inland journey from Karachi.

The buses have been parked at an enclosure near Zarghoni Masjid Hayatabad.

In a statement issued here on Monday, minister for local government and rural development Shahram Khan Tarakai said that the arrival of BRT buses in the provincial capital was testimony to the fact that the government was about to fulfill its promise to the people.

He said that the buses had arrived in Karachi last week and it took a week to transport them to Peshawar.

He said that work on the BRT project was in full swing and it would be inaugurated on March 23. He said the modern buses would have separate portions for both males and females, while separate seats had also been designated for physically challenged persons.

Mr Tarakai said that he was personally supervising the progress on the BRT on a daily basis and would not allow any further delay in its completion.
