LAHORE: Showing total domination, Wapda reached the finals of both men’s and women’s team events of the national Badminton Championships here on Saturday.

In the men’s section, Wapda trounced Sui Northern Gas Pipe Lines (SNGPL) 3-0 to qualify for the final while in the women’s category, they toppled the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to reserve a place in the final.

In the men’s final, Wapda will take on NBP which defeated the Higher Education Commission 3-0 in the second semi-final. In the women’s final, Wapda will play SNGPL which crushed Punjab 3-0 in the second pre-final.

Besides the semi-finals, several matches in the men’s doubles qualifying round were also decided.

1st Double: Rizwan Azam-Raja Hasnain beat Ammar-Gohar 21-7, 21-14; 2nd Single: Anjum Bashir beat Ammar Masood 21-10, 21-13. Women’s team events (semi-finals):

Wapda beat NBP 3-0: 1st Single: Mahoor Shahzad beat Sara Mohmand 21-7, 21-2; 1st Double: Mahoor-Mehmoona (Wapda) beat Aisha-Manaal Tariq (NBP) 22-20, 21-10; 2nd Single: Sehra Akram beat Manaal Tariq 21-14, 21-13. SNGPL beat Punjab 3-0.
