LAHORE: The PPP leader and former chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Asif Hashmi has written an open letter to former chief justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, reminding him he had returned from Dubai on his (the former CJP’s) assurance that he would not be arrested.

“But you did not allow me to speak and got me arrested unheard,” Hashmi said in a letter he wrote from the Camp Jail on Tuesday. He said he had been in jail for the last one year and no charge against him framed by the NAB or the FIA had been proved as yet.

“You should have allowed me to defend my case as you had given me your word that I would not be arrested but you did not keep your word,” he complained, adding all cases against him were politically motivated.

Mr Hashmi is facing cases related to illegal recruitment and sale of the state land.
