Umar, Shaban reach U-16 snooker semis

ISLAMABAD: Promising young cueists Mohammad Umar Khan and Shaban Butt entered the semi-finals of the Jubilee Insurance Under-16 National Snooker Championship at the Pakistan Sports Complex.

On the second day of the championship on Sunday, Umar beat his Punjab colleague Mohammad Hamza Ilyas 3-2 with scores of 22-58, 40-65, 59-43, 61-25, 61-28 while Sindh’s Shaharyar Khan also won 3-2 against Malik Muzammil Khan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a scoreline of 34-51, 78-28, 60-22, 38-63, 49-44.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kamran Albert Masih outclassed M. Ahmed Ali Qurashi of Punjab 3-1 ((0-1, 60-27, 49-48, 52-08).

Faheem Liaquat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa beat his provincial team-mate Munsifuuddin 3-2 (0-1, 76-46, 27-62, 50-29, 46-34).

Similarly, in all-Punjab tussles Shaikh M. Muzammil blanked Mashood Khan 3-0 (56-19, 62-19, 41-28) and Shaban Butt defeating Umar Farooq 3-2 (46-48, 38-48, 64-54, 57-16, 49-22).
