Asfandyar, Benazir meet in Dubai

ISLAMABAD, June 27: President of the Awami National Party (ANP), Senator Asfandyar Wali Khan, had a detailed meeting with PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto in Dubai on Monday, according to reports reaching here. He is visiting Malaysia and Middle East countries since June 17.

Party information secretary Zahid Khan told Dawn that Mr Khan had a two-hour meeting with Benazir Bhutto. He also enquired about the health of her spouse Asif Ali Zardari, who had undergone angioplasty following a heart stroke.

Senator Asfandyar in his discussion with the PPP leader agreed on establishing a close cooperation between liberal and progressive political forces to steer the country out of the political instability and to wage struggle for the restoration of constitutional democracy.
