ISLAMABAD: Top seed Korean Cheong-Eui Kim and second seed Rio Noguchi of Japan reached the men’s singles final of the Serena Hotels ITF Futures here at the PTF Complex on Friday.

The top seed qualified for the final after getting a walkover in the semi-final against third seed Ti Chen of Chinese Taipei, who withdrew because of a back injury.

Noguchi, meanwhile, defeated Great Britain’s Alexis Canter 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the other semi-final.

Earlier, in the men’s doubles semi-final, Darko Jandric of Serbia and Uzbekistan’s Shonigmatjon beat Anotn Chekhov (Russia) and Kia Wehnelt (Germany) 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.

In the final, they will face Korean Cheng-Eui Kim and Japan’s Rio Noguchi who overwhelmed the Russian duo of Alexander Pavlioutchenkov and Valadmir Polyakov 4-6, 6-1, 10-4 in the other last-four match.

Meanwhile in the women’s singles semi-finals, Sara Mansoor beat Hania Navaid 6-2, 6-1 and Sarah Mahboob outclassed Esha Jawad 6-2, 6-2.

In the boys’ singles U-18 quarter-finals, Nauman Aftab beat Abdullah Adnan 6-3, 7-5, Ahmed Kamil subdued Mohammad Abdullah 6-2, 7-5 while Uzair Khan eased past Hamza Roman 6-2, 6-2.

In the boys’ singles U-14 last-eight stage, Sami Zeb overpowered Bilal Asim 6-1, 6-2; Uzair Khan defeated Hamza Roman 6-2, 6-2; Abdul Hanan crushed Huzaima Abdul Rehman 6-1, 6-3 while Mohammad Huzaifa Khan breezed past Kashan Umar 6-1, 6-2.
