Hasan, Shoaib excel in school cricket

KARACHI: Hasan Jafri scored a brilliant 104 and Mohammad Shoaib captured seven wickets for 28 runs while guiding their respective institutions to victories as four matches were decided in the ninth PVCA/EBM Inter-school Cricket Tournament.

Kamran Public School beat Nasra School by 68 runs at Eastern Star Cricket Ground.

KAMRAN PUBLIC SCHOOL 264-8 in 40 overs (Hasan Jafri 104, Zeeshan Khalid 65; Umar Hameed 6-38, Mohammad Ismail 2-38); NASRA SCHOOL 195 in 32.2 overs (Anees Atiq 68, Talha Waheed 47; Mohammad Owais 3-42).

Al-Fatima Shool beat GBSS Shoaib Muhammadi by 13 runs at Asghar Ali Stadium Stadium.

GBSS Mumtaz Colony School beat Superior Educational Academy by six wickets at Eastern Star Cricket Ground.

Parbat, Farhan win tennis titles

KARACHI: The Karachi Club Open National Seniors and Juniors Tennis Championship concluded at Karachi Club Synthetic Tennis courts with Parbat Kumar becoming the champion of Juniors 18 Singles event after beting brother Hasheesh Kumar 6-2. 7-5.

However Parbat lost the battle against Farhan Altaf in men’s singles final. Farhan won the title with 2-6, 7-5,6-4.

The boys under-14 singles final was annexed by Ashar Mir who defeated Mohammad Yahya Ehtisham with 2-6, 7-6, 7-6 score.

40 plus doubles winners were Zulfiqar Khan and Kalim Ghachi, who won over Asad Ali Bhagat & Ali hasan Bhagat with 6-7, 6-3, 10-8 score.

Mr Rafiq Godel was the chief guest who distributed cash prizes of Rs.50000 and trophies to the winners and runners up of various events

He further announced to hold a national championship carrying bumper prize money of one million rupees at Karachi Club in the next calendar year.

Meanwhile, tournament director Khalid Rehmani announced that Sindh Tennis Association will hold NBP Open National Seniors and Juniors Tennis Championship and first Afeef Trophy ranking tennis championships in the month of December.

Besides, the sixth Indus Pharma National Tennis championship and 17th Westbury Open Ranking Tennis Championships in January in Karachi.—Agencies


Vinod stars with ton

KARACHI: A sparkling undefeated century from Vinod Ramesh helped Sindh High Court Greens whipped Karachi Bar by a huge margin of 154 runs in the opening fixture of the first Justice T20 Colour Kit Cricket Tournament here on Friday.

Batting first at the Eastern Star Ground, SHC Greens amassed 277-1 with Vinod blasting an 100 with the aid of 15 fours and three sixes. Fellow opener Asghar Raza retired on 75 (10 fours and two sixes) with cramps mafter sharing a rollicking stand of 170.

Farhan Khan (35, five fours0 and Sajid Pecheo (28) were the other run-getters.

Karachi Bar, in reply, were all out for 123 in 18.5 overs with Ahsan Ahmed making 31 and Haider Imam Rizvi 29.

Off-spinner Farhan Khan grabbed 3-10.
