ISLAMABAD, June 20: Federal Minister of States and Frontier Regions Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind has praised the timely intervention by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in the issue of large-scale sale of government land in Gwadar and his order of stopping the process of sale till the completion of the Gwadar master plan. In a statement issued here on Monday, the minister said that the prime minister, acting on a written complaint of Federal Minister for Special Education Zubaida Jalal, had immediately stopped the sale of government land in Gwadar and ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Sardar Rind suggested that an inquiry board headed by a Supreme Court judge might be set up for the purpose.

He said it had become imperative to take action because the people of Balochistan, especially those of Gwadar, were feeling terribly victimized.

He said it was for the first time in the history of Pakistan that the federal government had launched major development projects in Balochistan, giving new hopes to the people of the province.

He said that the timely intervention by the prime minister would help protect the rights of the people of Balochistan.
