PATNA: The Working Committee of the Bihar Provincial Muslim League which met here last evening [Oct 17] through a resolution deplored the “utterance made by Lord Linlithgow in laying emphasis on his pet scheme of the All-India Federation at the recent session of the Chamber of Princes” and pointed out that “no scheme short of the Muslim demand of self-determination as envisaged in the Lahore Resolution shall be accepted to the Muslim India and that any attempt in going back upon the scheme and from the solemn pledge contained in the August 1940 resolution shall be resisted by the Muslims of Bihar”.

The Committee decided to observe November 5 as “the Bengal Relief Day” and through a resolution appealed to the Muslims of Bihar “to come forward with more effective help as the help so far sent was not enough to meet the serious and unprecedented calamity”.

[Meanwhile, as reported from New Delhi,] It is understood that during the period from September 1 to October 5, the quantity of foodgrains supplied to districts in distress total about 19,000 tons. The average for the previous six months is 8,000 tons per month.—Dawn Delhi
