KARACHI: Dengue fever claimed the life of a 60-year-old man at the Aga Khan Hospital, it emerged on Tuesday.

Muhammad Khalil, son of Muhammad Shakil, a resident of North Karachi, was brought to the hospital on Oct 11, who died the same day. The man was suffering from high-grade fever when shifted to the hospital and was diagnosed with dengue fever.

In April, An elderly woman, Akraman Mai, resident of Surjani Town, died in the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) of dengue fever.

25 more dengue cases surface in city

As many as 25 more dengue fever cases were detected thorough Karachi within a week, taking the reported cases toll to 969 since Jan 1, 2018.

According to the weekly report issued by the Prevention and Control Programme for Dengue in Sindh, at least 25 new dengue fever cases were recorded across the city in a week. No new case was reported from others districts of the province.

In October, 41 dengue cases were reported in Karachi.

This year, 1,024 dengue cases surfaced across the province, of which 969 were in Karachi and 55 in other parts of the province.—PPI
