BUNER: The local government and rural development department organised an awareness walk at Swari on Sunday to launch ‘Clean and Green Buner’ drive.

Deputy Commissioner Shafiullah Khan, district nazim Dr Obaidullah Khan, district naib nazim Yousaf Ali Khan, AD Amanullah Khan, village nazims and mediapersons participated in the walk.

The walk started from the general bus stand and concluded at the College Chowk.

The participants were carrying banners with slogans about importance of cleanliness and greenery.

Prior to the walk, a seminar was held, where speakers highlighted importance of cleanliness and greenery to provide healthy environment to the citizens.

They said provision of healthy environment was a must for leading a healthy life.

They expressed joy over the participation of village nazims in the walk as they were supervising cleanliness drives in their respective village councils.

The officials assured of all out support and funds for success of the drive across the district.

The village nazims said that village council should be allowed to hire more than three sanitation workers according to their needs.

The deputy commissioner assured that a meeting would soon be convened to discuss the issue.
