KHAIRPUR: Members of the Khairpur District Bar Association (DBA) on Monday observed a boycott of court proceedings over murder of a lawyer a day earlier.

The lawyer, Hakim Kalhoro, died on the spot and his son, Faiz Mohammed, was injured in a clash between two groups of the Kalhoro community over a matter of the drainage line in their village, Panjal Kalhoro, located near Theri town.

The victims were attacked with clubs by their rivals, who escaped from the area after the clash.

Condemning the incident, DBA president Yasir Arafat Shar announced that the lawyer fraternity of the district would boycott court proceedings on Monday to protest against the murder.

Meanwhile, the bereaved family has nominated seven suspects involved in the attack. An FIR against them was registered at the Theri police station but no one could be arrested till late Monday evening.
