NAWABSHAH: Farzana Jamali, a final year student of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU) who has accused the vice chancellor and a lecturer of subjecting her to sexual harassment and implicating her father in a false case, on Saturday expressed her distrust in the inquiry committee constituted by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Giving the reason for her move, Ms Jamali cited a statement of Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho in which the latter allegedly favoured the suspects in the case and called her [Ms Jamali’s] allegations “a drama”.

Speaking to local reporters, Ms Jamali called for an impartial and fair inquiry into the harassement case which, she stressed, must be free from influence of ministers or biased elements.

Meanwhile, her uncle, Iqbal Jamali, who is a senior Pakistan Peoples Party activist, told reporters that he and his other family members had decided to quit the party over Dr Pechuho’s biased attitude in this matter.

Ms Jamali and her father have already recorded their statements before the committee as well as before the Shaheed Benazirabad district and sessions judge.
