KARACHI: The unheralded Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) were left celebrating a notable success in the first round of the PCB Inter-region Under-19 three-day competition on Monday when they defeated Larkana by four wickets.

Usually dubbed as the favourite whipping boys, AJK scored 110-6 in their second innings of the Group ‘C’ fixture at the Mirpur Cricket Stadium on the third and final day.

Monday’s other winners were Dera Murad Jamali (DMJ), Bahawalpur and Sialkot following the two-day wins clinched by Karachi Whites and Faisalabad on Sunday.

DMJ crushed Multan by an innings and one run in the Group ‘A’ tie at the UBL Sports Complex, Sialkot beat Hyderabad by seven wickets in Group ‘B’ encounter at the Jinnah Stadium in Gujra­nwala while in the same pool, Bahawalpur sealed an 87-run triumph against Islam­abad at the National Ground in the federal capital.
