PRIME Minister Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi’s addressed the nation on Aug 19 to thank his supporters, offer an olive branch to connect with his detractors, and lay out his plan on how he intends to make our country a great nation.

He came across as a sincere leader who intends to set things right. He wants to do simple things and stated them in a lucid manner.

Imran wants to make Pakistan clean and green. He wants all Pakistanis to pay their taxes. He wants to facilitate the Pakistani diaspora to invest in this country. He wants a level playing ground for the unfortunate citizens left behind. He has vowed that education will have priority and research in agriculture encouraged. These are the foremost of his priorities that he has set for himself and his cabinet. But then others before him wanted to do all of this and failed. So what makes Imran different?

No sooner had he concluded his speech that his detractors and those who are unhappy at his success and did not want him to be prime minster came out in strength on social media. The general trend being: walk the talk, implement your agenda, and time will tell, etc.

As an Imran supporter but not a diehard one, the Kaptaan has the physical and mental capability to achieve the objectives he has set out. We may not agree with him every time, but one thing is clear: we are in a new Pakistan and the difference will be felt, Insha Allah in a few months and more so within three years.
