MUZAFFARGARH: A woman and her two brothers were electrocuted in their under-construction house here on Monday.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, Rana Javed, son of Rana Yameen, was constructing a room on the second floor of his house near the Government Girls Middle School, Bhutta Pur, when a T-iron bar he was holding accidentally touched the main electricity wire.

As a result, Javed suffered severe electric shock and cried. As Javed’s brother heard his cry, he rushed to save him and he too was electrocuted.

Meanwhile, their sister Saima Bibi, who was present in the house, tried to save her brothers, but met the same fate when she touched them.

The neighbours, who witnessed the incident, called Rescue 1122 officials.

The rescuers reaching the spot got power supply suspended and removed the dead bodies from there.

After completing the formalities, they handed over the bodies to the bereaved family.

PEF FUNDS: All Pakistan Private Schools Associations’ local leaders on Monday deplored non-release of funds by the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) for last two months, saying it was causing hardships for 0.2 million teachers of the affected institutions.

At a press conference held here, Central president of APPSA Mian Zahid Abbas Nasir said that the teachers and 12,000 owners of PEF-funded schools were facing financial crisis and their families would not be able to celebrate Eidul Azha because of non-release of funds.

He warned if the funds were not released before August 17, the affected teachers and school owners would stage hunger strike in front of the PEF head office in Lahore.

He said the studies of the three million children who were getting education at the PEF-funded private schools were also being affected because of the funds’ stoppage for the last two months.

He said the association had written letters to the PEF for funds release but to no avail.
