THIS refers to the two photos published on front page of Dawn Metro South (July 28 and 29). One is about a street in Agra Taj Colony and another regarding a stadium in Federal B Area which have been turned into a garbage dump.

The captions of the pictures say that the residents of these areas will be looking to their newly-elected MNAs and MPAs to resolve these issues.

Unblocking sewerage lines and removing garbage from roads and parks are not the responsibilities of MNAs and MPAs. This has to be done by local government.

As per our constitution, the functions of the members of National Assembly include making laws, and running finance, defence and foreign policies.
