CHITRAL: A student identified as Farid Ahmed shot himself dead in his home here at Zargarandeh over what is said to be his unsatisfactory result in the intermediate examinations, taking the toll of students in suicide cases in the last two days to four.

Ahmed was a student of Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Chitral, and had obtained 81 per cent marks and A-1 grade in the examination conducted by Aga Khan Education Board, but he was not reportedly satisfied with the score as he expected much higher marks.

A police official said that he shot himself with a pistol in his room on Thursday morning and was taken to the DHQ hospital situated nearby where he was pronounced dead.

Earlier, two girls and a boy had committed suicide in different villages of Chitral after disheartened by their poor results.

Meanwhile, another young man committed suicide in Kosht village of upper Chitral here on Thursday.

An official of Mulkhow police station told this correspondent that Iltaf Khan belonged to Booni village and had come to meet his relatives in Kosht village where he committed suicide by jumping into the river.
