TLP fares well in Sialkot constituencies

SIALKOT: The Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has made its presence felt in Sialkot with third position after the PML-N and the PTI in four of the five National Assembly constituencies.

In NA-72, Sialkot-I, TLP’s Syed Abbas Ali Shah got 19,731 votes after PML-N’s Chaudhry Armughan Subhani (129,041) and PTI’s Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan (91,393).

In NA-73, Sialkot-II, TLP’s Rana Naeem Javaid clinched third position by getting 9,953 votes. Khwaja Asif won here by getting 116,957 votes.

TLP candidate Pir Shujaat Ali obtained 34,295 votes in Pasrur city’s NA-74, Sialkot-III while Arsalan Zafar remained fourth with 14,772 votes.

In Sambrial city’s constituency (NA-76, Sialkot-V), TLP’s Chaudhry Muhammad Amin remained third with 16,872 votes here.

According to political observer, the TLP candidates have got a decent number of votes and outdone the MMA, Allah-o-Akbar Tehreek, the Pakistan Sunni Tehreek (PST), the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), the PPP and independent candidates.

EU TEAM: The election observers of the European Union (EU) on Saturday visited Sialkot amid tight security.

They met PML-N stalwart Khwaja Asif and had a discussion with him.

They also witnessed consolidation proceedings in this constituency after a recount.

BODY RECOVERED: The divers of the Rescue 1122 fished out the body of a man from BRB Canal near Daska on Saturday.

Police said some unidentified people tortured to death a man and threw his body in the canal.

Police recovered the body and sent it to the Daska Civil Hospital for autopsy.
