LAHORE: The Young Doctors Association (YDA), Pakistan, is optimistic that the private medicals and dental colleges of the country will not be able to what it call `sell MBBS and BDS seats’ this year in the name of donations from students otherwise not eligible to get admission.

“The central admission policy 2018 for MBBS and BDS admission recently approved by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) executive committee has put an end to era of donations and out of merit admission in MBBS, BDS programmes in private medical colleges, said YDA Pakistan Secretary Dr Salman Kazmi in a statement on Sunday.

Dr Kazmi thanked Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar for taking suo motu notice of reports that there existed no uniform admission policy for admission to private medical colleges which charge Rs2 million to Rs3 million from ineligible candidates. The step would regulate medical education in the country, said the YDA secretary.
