LAHORE: In what appears to be the third and last major administrative reshuffle, the caretaker Punjab government on Saturday transferred and posted 40 officials of the ranks of secretary to deputy secretary.

Four senior police officials, including a deputy inspector general and three senior superintendents of police, were sent to Islamabad.

Officials said majority were given posts that had fallen vacant after the first reshuffle last month. The few who had been spared the first exercise were also changed.

“It appears to be the last administrative reshuffle by the present caretaker government,” a senior official said.

Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Mathar Ali Rana was transferred and posted as Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) director general, relieving additional chief secretary Tariq Najeeb Najmi of additional charge of the post. The post was upgraded to BPS-21.

The post of ACE director general fell vacant after the removal of retired Brig Muzaffar Ali Ranjha, who had been appointed by the previous PML-N government. He was considered close to Shahbaz Sharif and his service contract was to expire next year. Mr Mathar Rana was replaced by Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Dr Muhammad Ajmal.

Punjab Government Servants Housing Foundation Managing Director Dr Pervaiz Ahmad Khan was posted as Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) chairman.

Social Welfare Secretary Nabeel Javed was transferred and posted as Board of Revenue (BoR) Member (Judicial II) against a vacant post. He was replaced by OSD Zahid Akhtar Zaman.

BoR Member (Judicial III) Aslam Hayat Sial was given additional charge of the post of Member Judicial V, chief settlement commissioner, BoR.

Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) Member Inquiries Muhammad Amir Khattak was transferred and posted as Planning and Development Member (Production Sector Wing) vice Malik Mukhtar Ahmad, who was posted as local government special secretary vice Shahid Nasr Raja. Mr Raja was posted in place of Mr Khattak.

Punjab Wildlife and Parks Director General Khalid Ayaz was transferred and asked to report to the S&GAD. He was replaced by Industries Additional Secretary Rashid Kamalur Rehman.

Tourism Development Corporation Punjab Managing Director Ahmer Ali Mallick was sent to his parent department, Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA). PHA Lahore Director General Shakeel Ahmad was transferred and posted in place of Mr Mallick.

Higher Education Special Secretary Ehsan Bhutta was transferred and posted as agriculture marketing special secretary against a vacant post.

CMIT member Shahid Hussain was transferred and posted as managing director of the Board of Investment, Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).

Tribal Area Development Project Dera Ghazi Khan Project Director Tahir Khurshid was transferred and posted as Punjab Small Industries Corporation managing director.

Planning and Development Member (Special Infrastructure) Mahmood Hassan was transferred and posted as housing special secretary against a vacant post. OSD Faisal Zahoor was posted as Multan Development Authority director general against a vacant post.

Punjab Public Libraries Director General Dr Zaheer Ahmad Babar, an associate professor, was sent to his parent higher education department. He was replaced by OSD Manzoor Hussain.

BoR Secretary Nasir Jamal Hotiana was transferred and directed to report to S&GAD. He was replaced by OSD Muhammad Junaid Ibrahim. OSD Ishratullah Khan was posted as information additional secretary against a vacant post.

Punjab Auqaf Organisation Director (Admin) Abdul Shakoor was transferred and his services were placed at the disposal of Lahore Development Authority director general.

S&GAD Economic adviser/secretary (Benevolent Fund) was transferred and posted as Environmental Protection Agency director general against a vacant post.

Quaid-i-Azam Library Additional Director General Syed Mubashir Hussain was transferred and posted as local government additional secretary vice Ayesha Ranjha who was posted as population welfare additional secretary.

Communication and Works Additional Secretary Malik Bhulla was transferred and posted as specialised healthcare and medical education additional secretary against a vacant post.

Awaiting transfer as Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Additional Secretary Mohsin Abbas Shakir was posted as Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board Lahore secretary. Cooperatives Additional Secretary Jehangir Ahmad was transferred and posted against Mr Bhulla.

ACE Dera Ghazi Khan Director Abdul Shakoor was posted as ACE Lahore Director. Home Deputy Secretary (Internal Security) Usman Ali was transferred and posted as S&GAD deputy secretary (welfare) vice Muhammad Ali Ijaz who was posted in place of Mr Usman Ali.

Zakat and Ushr Deputy Secretary Shafique Abbas Shah was transferred and asked to report to the S&GAD.

Women Development Deputy Secretary Safiullah Khan was transferred and posted as Zakat and Ushr deputy secretary (admin) vice Shafique Shah.

Seven additional commissioners (finance and planning) were also changed.

Some Police Service of Pakistan officers were relieved of their duties in Punjab and asked to report to the Islamabad Capital Territory Police, including Faisal Ali Raja (BPS-20), Mujahid Akbar Khan, Sikandar Hayat and Muhammad Abdul Qadir Qamar (all BPS-19).
