KARACHI: Promising 19-year-old Vivek Anand, who shot to fame with his eye-catching Hole-in-One feat in the CNS Open last year, shot successive rounds of two over par 74 to jump to the top and grab a one shot lead on the penultimate day of the junior amateur trials at the Defence Authority Country and Golf Club on Wednesday.
Anand’s two round aggregate stood at four over 148, a shot ahead of teenagers Syed Yashal Shah, 13, of the KGC and 16-year-old M. Saqib of the LGGC. The latter also carded the best round of the day of two under 70.
At 156 are 16-year-old Junaid Irfan of the KGC and 15-year-old Damil Attaullah of the LGGC.
National champion Aania Farooq has tightened her grip in ladies category and way ahead of her opponent Rimsha Ijaz. Aania’s two round aggregate is 151 (75, 76) seven over and leads by 11 shots over Rimsha whose score is 162 (84, 78).
Meanwhile, Multan’s M. Insaf fired one over 73 in the second round to succeed overnight leader Eman Masih at the top in the junior pros Q-School trials.
Insaf had two round score of 150, six over, and leads by two shots over Aakash Bashir (76, 76).
The trials concludes on Thursday.
