PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau has initiated inquiries against officials of the Local Government and Rural Development Department and contractor of Shahi Bagh fun land and Chacha Younis Park, Peshawar, regarding corruption and corrupt practices.
The NAB also approved a reference against Yahya Khan, senior auditor, Regional Tax Office (RTO), Peshawar, and others regarding misappropriation of taxes and other funds.
According to a statement issued here on Thursday, the inquiries were approved in the regional board meeting of NAB which was held at its regional office with KP chapter director general Farmanullah Khan in the chair on Thursday. The meeting was attended by directors, deputy prosecutor general, case officers and other relevant officers.
It was stated that the accused persons had received extra money while handing over the fun land at Shahi Bagh to the government. They also got illegal contract of Chacha Younis Park in violation of the relevant laws.
The RBM authorised an inquiry against DHO, Mardan, and other officials regarding corruption and corrupt practices. The accused persons are stated to have misappropriated the funds allocated for standardisation of hospitals, purchase of equipment, furniture, medicines, vaccines and civil works.
The Nab regional chief said that the accountability body was determined to continue across-the-board action in order to overcome the menace of corruption.
