KARACHI: Karachi’s seasoned professional Waheed Baloch will be looking to defend his crown in the Chevron-DHA Karachi Cup All Pakistan Open Golf Championship which tees off here at the Defence Authority Country and Golf Club from Thursday.

Almost all of Pakistan’s top players have confirmed their participation in the prestigious tournament which will carry at stake a total prize purse of Rs3.5 million.

The tournament will be played from May 10-13 with the main professional event taking place over 54 holes from May 11-13.

Top professionals and amateurs from all over the country will be part of the stellar cast of the tournament. This tournament is a unique yearly event of Pakistan Golf Federation calendar, which is counted among the most prestigious golf events in Pakistan.

More than 200 golfers will be participating in the tournament in which the main contest will feature Professionals and Amateurs.

Other events to be contested during the tournament include Senior Professionals, Seniors, Veterans, Ladies, Juniors and Masters.

Last year, Waheed displayed nerves of steel to win the Championship at DAC&GC.

Waheed, one of the most seasoned professionals on the national circuit, began the final day of the championship trailing overnight leader Aadil Jehangir by four strokes. But he gave his best when it mattered the most to win the coveted crown on the final day.
