GHALANAI: An improvised explosive device planted by unknown miscreants went off targeting a team of bomb disposal squad of Mohmand Rifles near Aman Ghundai area of Safi tehsil on Wednesday.

Officials, however, said no casualties were reported in the blast.

After the incident, personnel of Levies and Khassadar forces cordoned off the area and started a search operation, and arrested two suspects.

They were shifted to Mohmand Rifles camp at Yousafkhel for interrogation.

Following the explosion, Assistant Political Agent, Upper Mohmand Tariqullah visited the site and held a jirga with local elders, urging them to fulfill their territorial collective responsibility of the area.

Meanwhile, APA Tariqullah along with political naib tehsildar Haleemzai, Shakeel Barki visited Nadra office at Ghalanai, and got arrested three agents and shifted them to the political lockup. Also on Wednesday, the political administration in collaboration with directorate of health services, Fata, established a free medical at community health centre in Sagi area of Safi tehsil.
