The University of Peshawar has two outdoor basketball courts. One is out of order with no basket rings while the other is always surrounded by cricketers.

The second court is built in the vicinity of hostel no. 2, known as Rahman Baba hostel. Students intending to play cricket, place stumps under one of the baskets and bowl from the side of the other basket. Using the basketball pitch for cricket often leads to brawls among students. One of my friends has once got injured in the tussle.

We made several complaints to the sports administration of the university but to no avail. A basketball court can and should only be used to play basketball.
