TAXILA: Sri Lankan army chief Lt Gen Ramesh Senanayake has pledged to boost bilateral defence cooperation during his visit to Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) in Wah Cantt.

Upon his arrival on Tuesday, POF chief Lt Gen Sadiq briefed the Sri Lankan team on the significance of the military company which is the premier defence production contractor of Pakistan.

While commenting on the capabilities of the industrial complex, the POF chief informed the delegation that the company was not only addressing the defence-related needs of the armed forces, but also exporting its products to more than 40 countries around the globe.

The Sri Lankan delegation was informed about the range of products being manufactured and total workforce comprising engineers, scientists and skilled labour employed to accomplish the task.

While extolling the bond of friendship between the two countries, the POF chief underlined the deep-rooted ties in the field of defence.

The delegation also visited POF product display lounges and was taken to production units to witness the manufacturing process.

They showed keen interest in the development process of arms and ammunition and lauded the high quality of POF products.
