LAHORE: Appreciating Chief Justice Saqib Nisar’s pledge for the supremacy of the Constitution and democratic system, Jamaat-i-Islami emir Senator Sirajul Haq said even a single day delay in elections could have serious consequence for the democratic process.

Speaking at a party meeting at Mansoora on Tuesday, Haq said the caretaker set-up must be truly impartial.

Expressing his concern over the increase in power loadshedding in the country, he said, in spite of the tall claims of the rulers the rural areas are being subjected to up to 18 hours outages, while urban areas face 10-12 hours loadshedding.

The JI chief took exception to the government’s plan to privatise airports, terming the move against the national interest.

The workers attending the meeting decided to participate in a big way in the Muttahida Majlis Amal convention at Islamabad on May 2.
