SANGHAR: Two persons belonging to the Jatoi tribe were shot dead in an ambush near Dalel Shar village, located some 12 kilometres from here, on Sunday.

The victims, Mir Mohammed Jatoi, a policeman, and Mohammed Hassan Jatoi, intended to attend a gathering of elders convened in the village to settle an old dispute between them and their close relatives.

Reports from the area suggested that armed men ambushed them when they reached near the village. The assailants then escaped leaving the victims dead on the spot.

The bodies were taken to the Sanghar Civil Hospital and then handed over to the heirs after a post-mortem examination. Sanghar SSP visited the hospital but avoided any comment on the incident.

No FIR of the double murder was registered till late in the evening.
