LAYYAH: Punjab Assembly Deputy Parliamentary Opposition leader Sardar Shahabuddin Khan Sehar of the PPP and six other MPAs have decided to join the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, sources told Dawn.

Mr Sehar, also a former district nazim and PPP president, was elected on the PPP’s ticket in the 2013 general elections.

According to the sources close to Mr Sehar, four PML-Q MPAs – Pir Ahmed Shah Khagga, Chaudhry Amir Sultan Cheema, Waqas Hassan Moakal and Sardar Muhammad Asif Nakai – and two independents – Ali Suleiman and Ahsan Riaz Fatiana – are also joining the PTI.

All of the MPAs are scheduled to meet PTI Chairman Imran Khan at his Bani Gala residence today (Tuesday), they said.

Later, the MPAs would formally announce their joining in the PTI in a press conference, the source said.
