SARGODHA: A Citrus Research Centre has been established at College of Agriculture, University of Sargodha with the collaboration of South China Agricultural University.

The centre was inaugurated by University of Sargodha Vice Chancellor Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed and South China Agricultural University President Xiaoyang Chen. Mr Chen is heading a delegation on an official visit to the university.

A laboratory would be established under the Citrus Research Centre where research activities would be conducted to explore ways for reducing the spread of diseases caused by citrus. The centre would also facilitate reproduction of beneficial insects which eat plant-sucking pests and help maximise agriculture production.

Mr Chen said South China Agricultural University would extend full cooperation and support to the university for conducting better research.

Dr Ahmed said that the focus would be on small farmers and the agriculture college and Chinese experts would facilitate them in every possible way to increase their agricultural output.
