RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has imposed a ban on the sale of carbonated and energy drinks in all educational institutions of the federal government located in its jurisdiction.

RCB spokesman Qaisar Mehmood said after passing a resolution the Senate had issued directives for imposition of the ban.

The RCB received the directive through its parent department, the Ministry of Defence, and communicated to all the educational institutions, he said.

In cantonment schools, he added, energy drinks had already been banned but private schools did not come under the ambit of the cantonment board.

He said the RCB had made it clear to all the federal government schools not to keep carbonated and energy drinks in their canteens otherwise action would be taken against them.
