PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Salahuddin Khan Mehsud on Monday inaugurated the newly-constructed bombproof police checkposts set up in areas of the provincial capital bordering the tribal region.

A statement issued here said that about 31 such checkposts had been completed.

Talking to reporters on the occasion, the police chief said construction of these bombproof posts was imperative to provide safe working environment to cops and also enable them to better cope with the menace of terrorism.

He said these posts would help bring down incidents of terrorism and protect civilian lives as well. He said police personnel were an asset for the force and every possible step would be taken to enable them to perform their duties in a positive way. He said more measures would be taken to improve the working conditions and timings of the police personnel.
