GUJRANWALA: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced establishment of Metro Bus and other key projects during his public address at Jinnah Stadium on Sunday.

Among other projects are a university, construction of surgical tower in the DHQ hospital and a flyover at Alim Chowk bypass.

The chief minister said development funds worth Rs62 billion had been provided to Gujranwala during his tenure. He said the people of the city should decide the new bus route according to their needs. The DHQ hospital would have a surgical tower to provide better facilities to patients and a flyover at Alim Chowk bypass would be constructed at a cost of Rs1.5 billion, he said.

He said the Jinnah Flyover at Lohinawala bypass constructed at a cost of more than Rs7.5 billion was a state-of-the-art project of Punjab.

The chief minister criticised Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari for joining hands for the Senate top slots. He wooed the constituents with a slew of promises such as quality education and health services.

Earlier, he laid the foundation stone of some development projects. He was presented a turban and other gifts.
