KARACHI: One of Karachi’s most amazing thefts was committed on Saturday night.

The city cattle pound was broken open and emptied of forty-two cows and two donkeys.

The stray cattle and donkeys collected and brought in from the city streets by the Special Municipal Staff had accumulated at the Ranchore Lines Municipal Cattle Pound during the week. The only gate of the pound was securely locked when the keeper left for home on Saturday night.

The gate was broken open by a modern band of rustlers and the keeper returned on Sunday to find doors wide open and the crowded pen empty. The cattle had gone and with them his favourite cow Bessy. The police are making inquiries.
