Huts gutted in Attock

TAXILA: House hold items worth millions of rupees were gutted when fire broke out in huts near Aslam colony in Attock after an explosion caused by gas leaks on Saturday. However, no loss of life was reported.

District emergency officer Dr Ashfaq Mian told newsmen when a female member of an Afghan family tried to light stove there was an explosion followed by a fire which engulfed the hut.

Within seconds the fire spread to other huts as all of them were made of grass and wooden blocks, Dr Ashfaq said.

He said on getting information fire fighters and rescuers reached the spot and extinguished the fire after an hour-long effort. He said that no human loss was reported. However, the belongings of the inmates of huts worth Rs0.5 million were burnt to ashes.

The rescue operation was supervised by assistant commissioner Saddar circle Marzia Saleem along with District emergency officer Dr Ashfaq Mian.
