ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Thursday claimed to have received more “evidence” proving involvement of the Sharif family members in money laundering and said that the party would hand over the proof to the National Accountability Bureau for action.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr Khan said they had obtained details of the bank accounts through which the Sharif family members had made huge transactions.

Terming former prime minister Nawaz Sharif a “hallmark of corruption”, Mr Khan alleged that the Sharifs were involved in money laundering through a network of 16 offshore companies, including the FZE Capital and the Hill Metal Establishment.

Since 1992 when the then Pakistan Muslim League-N government enacted a law to whiten their black money, he said, there had been exponential boom in the assets of the Sharif family.

“So far Rs300 billion has been plundered by this group of crooks,” the PTI chief alleged.

“The Sharif family laundered Rs1.14bn through the Hill Metal Establishment and this black money was meticulously whitened by transferring it into different accounts,” he said.

Letter to Sindh CM

PTI deputy secretary general Murad Saeed has written a letter to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah urging him to get a clear and unbiased judicial inquiry conducted into “extra-judicial murder” of 27-year-old Naqeeb Mehsud from Waziristan.

Mr Saeed stated that news was circulating on the media and social media that Naqeebullah Mehsud was allegedly killed in an encounter with a police team headed by Senior Superintendent of Police Rao Anwar.

“Such kind of cruelty and tyranny in Punjab and Sindh is extremely appalling,” he said.
