LAHORE: Army, Railways, Wapda and Peshawar won their matches in the National Basketball Championship here at the Sports Board Punjab courts on Saturday.

Defending champions Army crushed Lahore Division 93-44, Railways carved out a 77-42 win against Faisalabad Division, Wapda fought hard to overcome the POF 68-53 and Peshawar edged out a strong Navy team 76-73.

Shoaib, Naimat, Farhad and Amanulah played pivotal roles in Army’s victory as their passing and putting both were excellent. Saad Butt and Danyal performed well for Lahore.

However, the day’s stunner was the Peshawar-Navy clash. Though Navy were leading 55-50 at half-time in a seesaw battle, Peshawar eventually earn a significant win.

The experience of Nawaz, Romeo and Umair helped Railways beat Faisalabad Division by a big margin. Hadi and Usman fared well for the losing side.

Sunday’s fixtures:

Lahore Division vs Faisalabad Division; Wapda vs Navy; POF vs Peshawar Division.
